Our geography shapes our lives in ways we cannot know without the necessary time to reflect.
Wallace Woods is a neighborhood on the east side of Covington, KY. Tucked in its own corner of the city and across the street from the Licking River, Brian Martin was privileged enough to spend his childhood here.
Starting off on the piano his mother bought when she was 19 years old, he "borrowed" his brother's guitar when he went to college and soon after began writing. The time spent in college at the University of Kentucky was filled with the study of physics and the universe as well as honing his song writing.
Soon after he would find himself fronting and touring with the band Heroes & Madmen (formerly Fickle). Life provided its share of challenges during this time as well. Now with the time he has had to reflect on life, childhood, and the area that helped shaped him, he pays homage in his songs not just to his origins, but to what they mean: Home

Inspired by the haunting melodies of Old-Time Appalachian music and the beauty of the mountains where it was born, The Laurelys are a married folk duo from Newport, Kentucky. Taking cues from centuries of folk music, The Laurelys use interwoven harmonies and the clawhammer banjo to tell stories about love, life’s challenges, and finding solitude in nature.
Check The Laurelys out at Fresh Fest Friday on 5/17 at Prost Tavern in Bellevue. More details on the FB event.

Fresh Festival begins with 3 Pop Up Engagements across NKY Taverns. Dates are 4/26, 5/3, and 5/17. See above for more details!
The Freshest locations have been chosen for Fresh Festival 2024. Camp Springs Tavern, The Globe in Covington, Prost Tavern in Bellevue, VFW Post 3205 in Alexandria, and Alexandria Brewing Company.
You know the Freshest music will be on display! You may even hear unfortunate (but passionate) "singing" from the festival founder.
